Newsletter 6th March 2015

Here’s news from Whitehall and an invite for next year’s trip, World Book Day and Chinese New Year…

Last week’s trip to Whitehall was excellent. I always come away from Whitehall thinking what a fantastic experience it is for the children. They learn so much about resilience, responsibility, self-reliance and co-operation and they get to do loads of outdoor activities and mix with children from other schools as well. We are booked in for next year. The price will be approximately £200. We realise this seems like a lot but if you start paying now, it amounts to less than £20 per month. We can arrange payment plans if you like. If you would like your child to attend, but find the price prohibitively expensive, please call or pop in to see me in complete confidence and we can work together to make it more affordable.

World Book Day

World Book Day was fab! Some of the children’s costumes were outstanding. We particularly liked Poppie’s wild flower basket, Zack’s beard, Hollie’s Ginnie Weasley, Millie’s evacuee and Livvie’s Gandalf. Best of all, for me, was The Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist, a superb book by Charles Dickens. Well done Caleb (and Caleb’s mum!) for a really ace costume!!

Mrs Plevey’s Sports Bit

The Juniors had their first climbing session at Whitehall yesterday and all did superbly! Over the weeks we will be learning lots of new skills working towards our climbing wall awards.

Tues 10th March – Infant P.E festival in Buxton. We will have to leave at 8.55 prompt, please come to school in P.E kits ready to go!

Fri 13th March- Year 2,3+4 Gym competition in Glossop. Packed lunch needed please.

Re-arranged Booster Clubs

Extra Booster Clubs are as follows: Fri 13th Mar and Fri 20th Mar. I may ask for a few more after Easter too!!

Further Booster cancellations are: Tues 10th Mar and Weds 25th Mar. Apologies for any inconvenience. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to me.

Chinese New Year CAGES Event

The Chinese New Year celebrations were really lovely. We had a fabulous meal of Chinese food expertly prepared by Lee Ming and an evening of chat and fun in the church. A massive thank you to Steve Moore and the CAGES committee who worked tirelessly to make it the fantastic event it was.

Coffee Morning

Mrs Gill and Mrs Jenkins took the infant children to the Chapel to share some of the things we are doing in school with the coffee morning regulars. We are delighted to be able to say we received a card of thanks from one of the people there telling how lovely the children were. Well done infants!!

Parent View – Ofsted Website

When Ofsted come (which they inevitably will) one of the ways they measure success at the school is to ask parents for their views. They may choose to speak to you directly while they are here or take a look at our questionnaire responses, but they will certainly read comments left on their Parent View website. It is really easy to access the website (just search Parent View) and follow the instructions. We hope you are happy with the education your children get at our school and that you will be able to make a few positive comments on Parent View. If you are struggling to get access, please pop in and we will help.
