DT - Fire Engines
Our DT theme this term was designing and making a fire engine linked to our learning in history about The Great Fire.
The objective was to a design purposeful, functional fire engine based on a design criteria. The children communicated ideas through talking, drawing templates, mock-ups and chose tools and materials, based on their knowledge. We investigated different techniques for stiffening a variety of materials and explored different methods of enabling structures to remain stable. They used use wheels and axles in their design. We were very pleased with the results.
