Busy Bees!
Over the last few weeks we have been learning all about bees.
We have discovered so many interesting facts like purple flowers have more nectar, as well as learning about life in a hive as a drone or worker bee. Our role play term has been a florist shop
In DT the children built a hive and created a cross-section of a hive from modroc, as well as making bee pop-poms. Last week we had a teddy bears picnic and the children created an eat well plate, learning about where food comes from and what makes a healthy diet. We picked salad from the garden which we had grown from seeds, with a honey dressing and made honey biscuits, in keeping with our bee theme!
In English we created information books about bees, learning how bees made honey in our guided reading session.
Our Art focus this term was observational drawings and as well as flowers, we drew bees which were amazing! Some children were so enthusiastic they went on to draw scorpions and snakes too.
